What is the barcode search field on the Document registration screen good for?
You can search for previously registered documents using a barcode scanner directly from the Document registration screen.
Click into the search field - in the upper right corner of the screen - and just read the barcode with your device. The meta data will automatically displayed, so you can check all information about the given document.
What is the shelf barcode used for?
TriDoc uses generally two types of barcodes.
The TriDoc barcode is a unique identifier which can be defined for each document version. In practice this means that you can stick on each printed document version a barcode (generated by TriDoc or another system) and if you register this barcode in the system you can use the barcode later for searching purposes.
The Shelf barcode is used for the localization of the documents. You can stick a barcode on a shelf, a physical document storage or a folder. If you register the documents you can also register the shelf barcode, where the document is physically stored. Later if you want to list for example all documents stored in a given physical folder without looking in manually through you only need a barcode scanner and you can search for the documents in TriDoc easily on the Archive-search screen (and also on the Dashboard).
Which standard barcodes does TriDoc support?
TriDoc supports the following barcodes:
EAN13
EAN128
CODE25
CODE39
