Can I export data from TriDoc to other programs?

All reports generated in the TriDoc system can be exported into xls files.

Examples for reports that can be exported:

  • Filtered document lists

  • Results list of a search carried out in TriDoc

  • History of a document

  • System log

  • Filtered list of companies registered into TriDoc

  • Filtered list of persons registered into TriDoc

(Most of the reports can be also printed.)


Does the TriDoc document management software allow users to send documents in emails to external people?

Yes. Documents can be sent to external users, who do not have a TriDoc account directly from the document datasheet.

Does the TriDoc software integrate with Microsoft Outlook?

The TriDoc system allows you to register your incoming messages directly from the MS Outlook application. For the use of the MS Outlook Add-In function, you have to install MS Office and the TriDoc Add-In on all laptops and client machines, where TriDoc can be accessed from. The Add-In can be downloaded from the Business Customization / MS Office integration menu

After installation, in the main menu of MS Outlook the TriDoc menu will appear.

With the MS Outlook Add-In you can only enter metadata in the scope it can also be found in the Quick registration panel. Other Data can only be entered on the TriDoc Document registration screen.


Does TriDoc use a database to manage documents?

Yes, documents registered into TriDoc are stored (with all their meta data) in a database. If you have the standard version of the product this will be a MySQL database. The product box includes also the database, but you can use a previously installed own database too.


How many documents can TriDoc effectively manage?

TriDoc has no explicit limit to the number of documents and records it can manage. The systems performance depends on infrastructure characteristics and the number of concurrent users.

How much do users need to know about database management or queries?

Basic users do not get in contact with the database, so they do not need anything to know about database administration. The system administrator should have at least a basic knowledge, so that he can manage a regular backup.
Usually users do not have to know anything about database queries.


How will my IT department back up TriDoc’s database and documents?

If you use the standard TriDoc version with the included MySQL 5.1 database, you will have to do the backup following the instructions in the MySQL Reference Manual Chapter 6.

In all other cases (if you use an other database or an other version of MySQL) please follow the instructions of the concerning manual.


Some drop-down comboboxes I can click into. What is this function good for?

The so called searchable comboboxes are drop-down comboboxes, which you can search by typing in the first two characters of the field values.

These fields are particularly useful because the corresponding number of values often exceed the number that can be displayed clearly arranged.

Such searchable comboboxes are for example the project, the associated company or related persons fields.

What database does TriDoc use?

The TriDoc standard product uses a MySQL database, which is also included in the product box.
The product is based on a platform and database independent technology, so if you would like to use TriDoc with MsSQL, Oracle or DB2 you should ask us for a product version compatible with one of these databases. (In this case you will get an install package that includes modifications needed to use the system with the other database.)


What if we have multiple offices?

TriDoc is a web-based server application, so it is accessible for your employees from any intra-or Internet, from anywhere (also from other offices or from at home).

Which browsers are known to work with TriDoc?

You can use TriDoc with the most common browsers, like Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome or Opera. To use the application, you need to have at least Flash 9.0 installed on your client machine.


Why does the 'Document list' screen not show all documents I have registered in the system?

For reasons of efficiency the TriDoc system only shows as a default  the first 100 records in results list. If there are more then hundred records that meet the filtering criteria you can see a small '+' sign on the bottom of the list.

(The exported or printed result lists will contain all records, there is no limitation.)

Due to workload issues only the first 100 rows of a result list are displayed, but the number of rows showed in the tables (Document list, Search hints, Company list, Person list etc.) can be set in the 'System settings' menu. (The optimal value of this parameter is between 20-500. Do not set a row value higher than 1,000. A higher value also results a high workload on the client machines.)
